Brian Freedman is a food and wine writer, wine educator, and food and wine consultant. He is a contributing writer for John Mariani's Virtual Gourmet, contributing food and drinks writer for Philadelphia Style Magazine, contributing writer for Where Magazine and the annual GuestBook, wine columnist for Affluent Magazine, contributing writer for Sommelier India, and wine specialist and resident blogger, at www.UncorkLife.com, for Wine Chateau, one of the largest online wine retailers in the world. He is also currently the restaurant critic and drinks columnist for Philadelphia Weekly, Suburban Life Magazine, and South Jersey Magazine.
Previously, he worked as director of education at The Wine School of Philadelphia, food and wine editor and restaurant critic for LifeStyle Magazine, restaurant critic for AroundPhilly.com and AroundAC.com, restaurant critic for The Evening Bulletin, editorial director for ClassicWines.com, and host of Classic Wines TV, a popular online wine show. Brian is also a trained sommelier, and regularly hosts wine dinners and tastings at restaurants, clubs, and private residences.
Brian's work has been published internationally, nationally, and locally, and he has made several live television appearances on both Fox 29's "Good Day Philadelphia" and Comcast's "Your Morning on CN8." He also discussed unusual wines for the holiday season last year on ABC7's "View From The Bay" in San Francisco. In August 2008, he hosted the Chefs Panel at the National Association of Catering Executives conference in Philadelphia's Loews Hotel before an audience of more than 500 people, and in February 2009 and March 2010 he worked as host and moderator for the culinary demonstrations at the Catersource and Event Solutions Conference and Tradeshow in Las Vegas. Brian is also the exclusive wine consultant for Catersource. He will be speaking at the 2011 conference, too, and lecturing on wine at the 2011 International Association of Conference Centers convention, as he did for the 2010 gathering.
Brian has been interviewed for articles in a number of publications, including Worth Magazine, USAirways Magazine, The Philadelphia Inquirer, Grape Magazine, and syndicated Associated Press pieces, among others. He has worked as a consulting sommelier, and maintains relationships with several private collectors as a personal wine consultant.
Brian is also the Membership Chair of the Wine Media Guild of New York.
